Welcome to O'Connors, the Irish Bar in Playa Blanca

5 June 2026 · by O'Connors

Run by Roddy and Laura O'Connor, O'Connors is a proper Irish bar in central Playa Blanca. Here is what to expect when you pop in.

If you are looking for a proper Irish bar in Playa Blanca, you have found it. O'Connors sits right in the heart of town, a short stroll from the church, and over the years it has become a home from home for Irish, British and local regulars alike.

It is run by Roddy and Laura O'Connor. Roddy is from Tipperary, Laura is from Limerick, and between them they brought a real slice of Ireland to the south of Lanzarote. This is not a theme bar with plastic shamrocks on the wall. It is the genuine article, run by people who grew up in it.

What makes it a proper Irish bar

A few things, really. Live music seven nights a week, from trad sessions to sing-along nights. A pint of Guinness poured the way it should be, with the time and care it deserves. The big matches on the screens, including live GAA when the championship is on. And a welcome that means you end up staying far longer than you planned.

It is the kind of place where the staff learn your name, the craic is good, and nobody is in a rush to move you on. That is harder to find than it sounds, especially on holiday.

Through the day and into the night

Families are welcome through the day, when you can grab a Full Irish breakfast or a bite of lunch and watch the world go by. As the evening comes in, the music gets going and the place fills up. There is something on every night, so whether you fancy a quiet pint or a proper session, you are sorted.
