Our Story

From Tipperary & Limerick to the Heart of Playa Blanca

Two Irish Hearts, One Big Dream

Roddy O'Connor is from Tipperary. Laura is from Limerick. They met in Ireland, fell in love, and dreamed about running a proper Irish pub — the kind where the Guinness is poured right, the music is live, and everyone ends up feeling like family by the end of the night.

In 2018 that dream landed in Playa Blanca. They'd been visiting Lanzarote for years and knew the town. They knew there were plenty of Irish-themed bars on the island, but not a single one actually owned by Irish people. They figured the locals and the holidaymakers deserved the real thing.

Where the Owner Takes the Stage

Roddy isn't just behind the bar — he's on stage most nights. The man can sing. Irish classics, sing-along pub songs, the odd country tune, and a fair few sessions where the regulars join in.

On nights Roddy isn't up himself, Gary, Camy, Alex, Brendan, Teresa and a rotating cast of brilliant musicians keep the room loud. Andreas, Lucinda, Vinny and Robyn round out the regular line-up. There's live music every single night of the week.

A Home Away From Home

The thing people say about O'Connors more than anything else: it feels like home. It's the warmth. It's the welcome. It's the way the regulars greet new faces and pull them into a conversation before the first pint is finished.

We're not trying to be the biggest pub in town. We're not trying to be the trendiest. We're trying to be the warmest, the friendliest, and the most genuinely Irish — and we're proud of where we've got to. Come and see for yourself.
